Bigfork Man Killed in Snowmobiling Accident

A Bigfork man is dead after a snowmobiling accident in Itasca County.

Thirty-eight-year-old Daniel Hollinday was first reported missing at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 29. His wife said he went snowmobiling by himself on Friday and that she hadn’t heard from him since 9 p.m. that night.

Itasca County Sheriff’s deputies searched the area and found Hollinday around 11:43 a.m. on the Bigfork River. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators believe the snowmobile hit a large rock on the shore of the river and that Hollinday was thrown from the vehicle onto some smaller rocks on the shoreline.
