WEB CHAT: Carrie Rocha Talks Black Friday Deals

KSTP.com's Leslie Dyste talks with Pocket Your Dollars Consumer Expert Carrie Rocha about Black Friday deals.

Rocha says you need to go into holiday shopping with a game plan and budget. She said you should decide if you're going to stores or staying home.

You can use apps to track your spending including the expensify app.

Going to Stores vs. Shopping Online

  • The main reason to go to stores is for fun and for doorbusters. Otherwise you can get the same prices online.

Electronics

  • There will be some unbeatable prices in the big box stores. For example, Walmart has doorbusters Thanksgiving night including an iPad 2 with a guarantee of availability if you're in line between 10 and 11 p.m. Thursday. If the product runs out they'll place an online order and you'll get it before Christmas.

Toys

  • You can typically find the best deals on toys two weeks before Christmas.

Appliances

  • You can use a website called camelcamelcamel.com to look up price history on various appliances and products.

Best Products to Get Deals on this Weekend

  • iPad2 from Walmart with a $79 gift card
  • Kohl's griddle and blender for $9.99
  • Pajamas at most retailers will be on sale

We'll have Carrie Rocha back for a web chat on Cyber Monday. Email your holiday shopping questions to web@KSTP.com.
