Yellow Ribbon Award Goes to TC Habitat for Humanity

The Yellow Ribbon Program helps veterans transition back to civilian life. The organization honors companies that work to hire and help veterans. Today for the first time the yellow ribbon distinction is going to a Twin Cities non-profit for helping veterans.

Habitat for Humanity is making it possible for more veterans to volunteer and for more veterans to afford housing.

Habitat is focusing on getting more veterans involved in the building process, but also in helping repair more veteran's homes. Since July nearly 600 veterans have built homes and 19 veterans have received help with repairs.

The next step for Habitat for Humanity is to encourage home-ownership for veterans. So far about five Minnesota veterans are working with Habitat to help build and buy a home.
