Excelsior Siren Causes Controversy
Not everyone thinks a siren adds to the charm of Excelsior.
The siren has been part of the west metro community since the 1950's and goes off three times a day for about 20 seconds. Now local business owner David Evans thinks the siren is harmful to hearing. Evans asked the city to turn off the siren or lower the volume.
Excelsior considered buying an $2,000 upgrade but decided to keep the siren as is.
Evans has started a petition at this store to get the city to conduct a sound study on siren.
