Hundreds of Teens Sleep Outside to Raise Awareness of Homelessness

Hundreds of area teenagers will sleep outside Thursday night, some in cardboard boxes, to raise awareness of homelessness in Minnesota.  Juli Baecker is one of the organizers of the event, "Tonight is going to be real exciting."

She says the kids will spend time learning and dancing but the real lesson will come in the morning, "When they wake up in the morning, and they've been rained on, and the cardboard city is wet, they wake up and they have the ah-ha moment. And they say 'wow,' families really live this."

Each of the teens was expected to raise at least $42, which is the average cost of providing one person with shelter for one night.
