Saint Paul Settles Privacy Claim For $385,000

The City of Saint Paul agreed to pay Anne Rasmusson $385,000 to settle a law suit alleging city police illegally accessed her private driver's license data for unofficial reasons.

Saint Paul City Attorney Sara Grewing says the city could have paid more, we know that there were allegations of at least of at least 226 unlawful look-ups here in the city of Saint Paul. So at $2,500 per look-up, we were looking at liability of at least $565,000.

Grewing says the Saint Paul also agreed to remove Rasmusson's private data from the city's computer systems.

Rasmusson's attorney, Jon Strauss, says his client is pleased that law enforcement will take privacy issues seriously.
