EmailJury Convicts Brooklyn Park Man of Killing Wife
Jurors have rejected a Twin Cities man's claim of self-defense and convicted him of murdering his wife.
According to the Star Tribune, the Hennepin County jury deliberated about two hours before convicting 54-year-old Prince Oliver Moore Jr. of first-degree murder Monday.
Moore contended he was acting in self-defense when he fatally stabbed his 39-year-old wife, Mauryn Moore, in their Brooklyn Park apartment last year.
Prosecutors say Prince Moore stabbed his wife more than 65 times. At one point he came at her from behind and slit her throat.
Assistant County Attorney Liz Cutter told jurors: "This was a vicious murder."
The Star Tribune reports Prince Moore told investigators he was sleeping in bed when his wife started stabbing him. He will be sentenced Thursday to the mandatory term of life in prison.
