EmailOvernight Fire Displaces Eight in Edina
An overnight fire in Edina has displaced eight people.
Police were called to a duplex on the 7500-block of West Shore Drive just before 3 a.m. on reports of a car on fire in a garage. By the time they arrived, the garage was fully engulfed and flames were spreading to the house.
Smoke alarms inside woke the residents, who all managed to get out safely. One person was treated for smoke inhalation on the scene.
Once the fire was out, it took crews several more hours to manage hot spots.
The Red Cross is helping the victims find temporary shelter.
