The Milwaukee woman convicted this week of trying to steal a baby by killing a pregnant woman and cutting out her full-term fetus will find out her sentence later this year.
A jury deliberated for less than two hours Thursday before convicting 34-year-old Annette Morales-Rodriguez. She was found guilty of two counts of first-degree intentional homicide.
Her sentencing hearing is scheduled for Dec. 14. A conviction of first-degree intentional homicide carries a mandatory life sentence. However, the judge could allow for the possibility of parole.
Prosecutor Mark Williams says he plans to ask the judge for a life sentence with no parole.
Messages left with Morales-Rodriguez's public defenders were not immediately returned.
Morales-Rodriguez told police she killed the 23-year-old woman because she was desperate to give her boyfriend a son.
