River Falls Dad Appears Silent in Court Thursday

The man accused of killing his three young girls in a Wisconsin home was back in court Thursday.

At Aaron Schaffhausen’s last hearing, the judge entered a “not guilty” plea for him. He’s accused of killing 11-year-old Amara, 8-year-old Sophie, and 5-year-old Cecilia in July.

St. Croix County prosecutors don't want Schaffhausen to have copies of graphic evidence, like autopsy photos.

Prosecutors say the evidence in this case is very graphic and very emotional. They say if Schaffhausen was somehow able to disseminate the evidence publicly, it would cause additional harm to the victims involved in this case.

Schaffhausen's defense team says this is not fair. They say the case file belongs to him. They say Schaffhausen would never be able to actually mail out graphic material from his jail cell.

A judge ruled Schaffhausen's defense would be allowed to have copies of the evidence in dispute but that Schaffhausen himself would not.

Schaffhausen stared at the floor and said nothing during his court appearance.

Meanwhile, an effort to heal from the tragedy will take flight next month.

Community members will gather at the Kids ‘n Kites Music and Words event Sunday, Oct. 7. It’s an event to celebrate and remember the three Schaffhausen sisters.
