Red Wing Police Investigate After Scissor Blades Found in Hamburger Buns
Leah Wiles says her surprise turned to anger when she realized what she found inside some hamburger buns she was using to make sandwiches for her kids.
"I started pulling them all apart and cutting them, and I looked at one and there was something underneath the bun. So I looked and pulled out a long scissor blade," Wiles said.
She searched the other ones and found blades stuck inside buns. Leah immediately got on the phone to EconoFoods where she bought the buns.
"I called and told them I had found some scissor blades in buns. They told me to bring them in and I did. They were as shocked as I was," Wiles said.
Police were called in and they checked the store's surveillance video. Red Wing Police chief Tim Sletten says the video shows a young boy messing with a stack of buns on a table inside the store.
"It appears that he took something out of his pocket and placed it into the packet and then walked out," Chief Sletten said.
Sletten says on the video the kid looks like he is between 10 to 13 years old with short brown hair and wearing a reddish/orange shirt with a design on the back and black shorts.
Wiles says, something has to be done to find this kid.
"Maybe they're looking for attention ... it scared me wondering what they must be thinking," Wiles said.
If you have information that would lead to the arrest of the boy, please call the Red Wing Police Department at 651-385-3155.
