Study: Girls are Better Writers than Boys

Girls are better writers than boys, according to the National Assessment of Educational Progress, also known as the Nation’s Report Card.
The study tested thousands of students in eighth and 12th grades. Students were asked to perform writing tasks in three areas to persuade, explain, and convey an experience.
On average, girls in eighth grade scored 160 and boys scored 140. In 12th grade, girls averaged 157 and boys averaged 143.
A survey also found that more girls than boys said they like writing.
