Ellsworth Construction Worker Likely Electrocuted on I-94

A construction worker from Ellsworth, Wisc. died Monday morning while working along Interstate 94.

Troopers were called to eastbound I-94 near mile marker 39 at 7:20 a.m..  They were told a man was lying on the ground, unresponsive, and that he "had possibly been electrocuted," according to a State Patrol spokesperson.

He'd been working, replacing guardrails.

"He was in contact with a piece of construction equipment that struck an overhead power line," said the spokesperson.  "The subject was transported to Mayo Hospital Menomonie where he passed away."

Monday night authorities identified him as Joseph Janisch of Ellsworth. He worked for Highway Technologies.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration is investigating.
