However, it can be a difficult conversation to have.

It's why the city of North St. Paul hosted a "Homes for a Lifetime" seminar aimed at senior citizens. The seminar showcased cheap home modifications seniors can make to remain in their homes longer.

The home is where seniors are most likely to fall. In fact, therapists say bathrooms are one of the most dangerous places in a senior's home.

Grab bars can lessen the risk of falling in the bathroom. So can runner bottomed rugs. Other modifications like lever-handled doors can aid seniors with arthritis in their hands. Painting stair steps different contrasts can also reduce risk.
