Northfield Woman Sentenced in Connection with Son's Death

A Northfield woman was sentenced in connection with the shaking death of her 17-month-old son.
Prosecutors say 21-year-old Melissa Ohmann failed to seek medical attention for her son, Nicholas Miller, after he was violently shaken by his stepfather, Tylar Hokanson, in June 2009.
Prosecutors say she never took her son to the doctor.
Miller died four days after the shaking, which caused bleeding in the boy's brain, a broken back and blunt force trauma.
A jury convicted Hokanson of first and second degree murder in 2010 and he received a life sentence.
Ohmann was sentenced to a year in jail, and ten years probation.
As part of her sentence she can have no contact with anyone under the age of 15, and no drugs or alcohol.
