Wayzata Waterfront to Receive Upgrade
The city of Wayzata held a kickoff party Tuesday night for the start of a 10 year plan to revitalize the city's waterfront.
At the event, hundreds of residents and business owners listened in as consultants from the St. Paul Riverfront Corporation brought forward ideas of what the shoreline and surrounding community along Lake Minnetonka could become.
There are no firm ideas yet, the city says it wants to start with a clean slate and take input from residents and local businesses.
"We have no preconceived notions going into this," said Mayor Ken Willcox. "We're going to be asking our residents, our commercial folks, visitors, this is a regional asset, this isn't just Wayzata."
A task force will spend the next 16 months gathering ideas. Then, depending on what they come up with, they will proceed with the 10 year plan.
