SurveyUSA/KSTP: Obama Gets Minnesota 'Bounce,' Now Up 10

President Barack Obama has opened up a double-digit lead in Minnesota, according to our exclusive new KSTP/SurveyUSA poll.

Obama leads Republican Mitt Romney 50 percent to 40 percent with 10 percent undecided or supporting another candidate.

The survey was conducted Sept. 6 to 9 and has a margin of error of +/-4.3 percent.  It should be noted the polling began on the final day of the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte and continued through the weekend.  Obama received a lot of positive coverage during the convention, but it was tempered by another discouraging jobs report over the weekend.

The timing of the poll might account for Obama's 4-point boost from our previous poll in July when he lead Romney 46 percent to 40 percent.  Most of Obama's lead is attributed to a huge advantage among female voters where he has a 17-point lead, three points higher than July. Obama now also leads among independents 43 percent to 40 percent, erasing a 4-point Romney lead in July.

Obama leads in all regions of the state except for southern Minnesota where Romney has a 47 percent to 39 percent lead.  Obama leads in the Twin Cities metro area 52 percent to 39 percent.
