Forecasters say the danger for wildfires is high in much of Minnesota, including the Twin Cities.
The National Weather Service has issued a red flag warning for much of Minnesota indicating critical fire conditions. The warning is in effect until 9 p.m. Tuesday.
The weather service says the combination of warm temperatures, strong winds and low relative humidity will create "explosive" fire growth potential.
Drought conditions are growing across the state.
The St. Paul Pioneer Press reports on Thursday the U.S. Drought Monitor classified the Twin Cities area as abnormally dry, and some locations in southern Minnesota were experiencing extreme drought.
