Stillwater Lift Bridge Closes for Repairs

Drivers who want to cross the St. Croix River, may need to find a new route.

The Stillwater Lift Bridge closed to vehicle, bike and pedestrian traffic Monday morning.

According to MnDOT the construction began in July.

Much of the work beneath the driving surface has been completed, and crews are now starting to work on other sections of the bridge.

Work on the bridge will include repairing steel connections, replacing and repairing mechanical and electrical components, and painting portions of the bridge.

The lift span will reopen on Sundays from Oct. 15 through Nov. 5. It won't reopen again until December.

MnDOT recommends drivers to cross the St. Croix River at either the I-94 Bridge at Hudson, or the Highway 243 Bridge at Osceola.
