2 Victims Recovered from Cass Co. Lake

Two men were found dead after their boat capsized in strong wind on Lake Winnibigoshish near Bena.

According to Cass County Sheriff Tom Burch, officers responded to a report of a capsized boat on the lake around 6:38 p.m. Authorities say the wind was gusting between 30 mph and 40 mph at the time.

Responders searched the area until dark by boat and with the Minnesota State Patrol helicopter. The search resumed again Sunday morning.

Around 9:35 a.m. the body of 43-year-old William Daley of Minneapolis was found near the shore.

The search continued, and the body of 53-year-old Clarence Dickens of Princeton was found around 5 p.m. about 200 yards from where the boat was initially located.

They were taken to the Ramsey County Medical Examiner's Office for an autopsy.
