Experts: Calif. Quakes Not Related to Costa Rica

Seismologists say Friday's quakes in Southern and Central California are not on the San Andreas Fault and weren't triggered by a magnitude-7.6 quake in Costa Rica.

A magnitude-4.0 quake struck at 6:22 a.m. in Huron in Fresno County. A magnitude-4.1 quake struck the same area a minute later. Just over six hours earlier, a magnitude-3.5 quake struck in Beverly Hills that thousands of people reported feeling.

There were no reports of injury or damage in any of the quakes.

Caltech seismologist Kate Hutton says none of the quakes was on the San Andreas Fault.

And while she says there is some controversy over whether this week's quake in Costa Rica could have triggered the California shakers, she believes Costa Rica is too far away for it to have any influence.
