Labor Day Kicks Off at Minnesota State Fair

It’s bound to be a packed day at the Minnesota State Fair as Labor Day weekend kicks off.
Today is MPR Day at the fair, and Minnesota Public Radio will broadcast live from Carousel Park. Also, early bird specials run through 1 p.m. today on the Mighty Midway and the Kidway rides, games, and concessions.
Later this morning, teachers from across the state are meeting at the fair to talk about challenges facing education in our state. They will have a roundtable discussion on what is essential for student success and how being a teacher has changed over the years.
The discussion begins at 11 a.m. at the Education Building on the fairgrounds.
Semisonic is part of the Minnesota Music on a Stick concert tonight at the Grandstand. Dessa, the Jayhawks, and Lucy Michelle are also part of the local music celebration that kicks off at 5 p.m. Tickets cost $35.
For those looking for a free show, tonight’s concert at the bandshell is sure to take you back. Wilson Phillips takes the stage at 8:30 p.m.
You can find KSTP at the fair on Chambers and Carnes, south of the Grandstand.
