Medical Examiner Employee's Laptop Stolen Containing Sensitive Data

An employee with the Medical Examiner for Dakota, Chisago, and Goodhue County says his personal laptop containing sensitive crime scene information was stolen.
Police say the theft happened between 4 p.m. and 4:25 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 8, at Central Park in Roseville.
The incident report says the rear passenger window was broken and a purse, cell phone, and laptop were taken. The laptop owner is 25-year-old Navid Amini of Roseville.
According to the incident report, the laptop contains photos of crime scenes and bodies, several death investigation files, police reports, and other law enforcement data. Amini’s computer wasn’t password protected, and he didn’t have tracking software. He told police he was concerned that the photos or documents could be uploaded to the internet.
There are no suspects at this time. A tri-county crime alert has been issued.
