Man Accused of Stealing $24K from French Meadow Bakery at Fair

It’s hard to picture the Minnesota State Fair as a place of crime, but charges have been filed today against a man accused of stealing from French Meadow Bakery at the fair.

About $24,000 was stolen from the bakery on Carnes Avenue overnight Friday, Aug. 24, and authorities have charged 50-year-old Eric Landon Massey of St. Paul with one count of first degree burglary.

The owner told police the money was from two days' worth of sales from the fair.

Surveillance video shows two men entering the building around 10:29 p.m. Friday. They were carrying plastic promotional bags from the fair. One man used a tool to allegedly break into the locked office, and both men are seen loading items into their bags before leaving.

The second man was identified as 52-year-old Robert Lee Love. He has not yet been booked on the alleged charges.
