Westbound I-494 Ramps Close in South Metro

Construction continues on I-494 in the South Metro as MnDOT closes westbound ramps at Portland and France Avenues, and the ramp from westbound I-494 to Nicollet Avenue.

Craig Bennink lives in Richfield, not far from the Portland Avenue ramp. He understands that road improvement is needed but isn't looking forward to navigating the detours.

"Eventually when they get done with it, it'll be a nice smooth road, that's true, but until that time it's going to be an absolute mess around here," he said.

According to MnDOT, the ramps will be closed until early November.
