Man Indicted in Downtown Mpls. Parking Ramp Stabbing

A Minneapolis man was indicted for attempted first-degree criminal sexual conduct for allegedly stabbing a woman in a downtown Minneapolis parking ramp last spring.

According to the Hennepin County Attorney's Office, 48-year-old Robert Meyers was wearing a suit and tie April 19 when he attacked a woman in a parking ramp at 800 Marquette Avenue South.

Meyer's allegedly came up behind the woman, put a knife to her throat and told her they were going for a ride. She screamed, bit his finger, and kicked at him until he left. When she got into her car, she realized she had been stabbed.

According to the criminal complaint, her injuries were life threatening, and she had to get surgery for a punctured liver.

Meyers was arrested and charged with first degree assault and attempted kidnapping.

Investigators later learned Meyers had a prior conviction for criminal sexual conduct in Iowa from 2002, that was similar to the recent attack in Minneapolis. This allowed prosecutors to seek an indictment from the grand jury.

If convicted, Meyers faces life in prison.
