Winery in Spring Valley Takes Top Honors at U of M Contest
Over the last two decades the popularity of Minnesota wine has exploded. Some of that wine was put to the taste test on Thursday.
The University of Minnesota held the International Cold Climate Wine Competition. Judges blind taste tested 325 wines from 12 states and Canada. Out of the 57 wineries in the competition, 25 are from Minnesota. You can credit cold-hardy grapes developed by the U of M for the popularity of local wine.
The Minnesota Governor's Cup recognizes the "Best of Show". This year's winner is La Crescent wine from Four Daughters Vineyard and Winery in Spring Valley, Minnesota.
