Man Accused of Forcing Runaways into Prostitution
Minneapolis has assigned an officer to investigate nothing but child trafficking.
Making the issue of trafficking may already be reaping rewards.
Broderick Boshay Robinson, 38, is charged with trafficking two Wisconsin runaways in Minneapolis and advertising them on the popular web site backpage.com.
Backpage is a site police say women and girls are often bought and sold for sex.
Minneapolis police Sgt. Grant Snyder has investigated nearly two dozen child trafficking cases this year and says each of the girls involved has been a runaway at some point. Additionally, he says each has also been advertised on backpage.
This week the Minneapolis city council passed a resolution calling on backpage's parent company to shut down the adult section of its online classified ads.
Backpage has refused to take down the ads.
