Conservation Officer Shoots, Kills Collared Black Bear Near Ely
A collared black bear was killed Thursday in the Ely area after it went into a garage that kids were in, and refused to leave.
Residents called the DNR to report their kids were in their garage with a bear. The residents said they tried to scare the bear away multiple times, but the bear snarled at them.
According to the DNR, conservation officers who arrived at the home found the bear in the area. A conservation officer tried to scare the bear away, but it again refused to leave.

The DNR says it appears the bear had been habituated to humans through hand feeding.
