Wedding Gifts, Cards Stolen from SUV in Blaine
A newlywed couple says someone broke into their SUV on their wedding night and stole nearly all of their gifts.
Josh and Emily Wood were married Saturday. They say they arrived at a Blaine hotel just before midnight, and around 7 a.m. a member of their wedding party had spotted the vehicle's driver-side door wide open.
Emily Wood says they went to investigate and discovered all their gifts had been stolen. "All of our cards were in there; all of our wedding gifts that our guests had given us," she said.
Josh Wood says the couple called police, "They took a report and gave us a case number and said if they find anything they'd be in contact with us."
Emily Wood says they were blindsided. "You don't think that bad stuff is going to happen to you on the happiest day of your life," she said.
The couple says they spent part of the day reaching out to friends and family to tell them about the theft so they could cancel gift cards. Emily Wood says that while it's true thieves made off with most of the gifts and warm wishes, not everything can be stolen, "They can't take our memories, it was the best day of our lives."
