Sale of Synthetic Drugs Soon to be a Minn. Felony

Beginning Aug. 1, it will be a felony to sell synthetic drugs.
Governor Mark Dayton signed the bill this morning at the capitol that was made official earlier this year. He was surrounded by lawmakers and police officers during the ceremonial signing.
The synthetic drug bill comes in the midst of a national crackdown on what’s better known as incense, or bath salts.
This is a problem law enforcement officials have seen escalate in the past few years, so they are hoping to stop it as quickly as it started.
Right now, the Drug Enforcement Administration is going through a nationwide crackdown called Operation Log Jam. It’s the first coordinated enforcement effort on designer synthetic dugs, like bath salts and synthetic THC or K2. Raids are happening in 100 cities.
