Canceled Lumberjack Days Impacts Businesses, School Teams

The former organizer of Lumberjack Days, Dave Eckberg, is being investigated for not paying groups back for services they provided at the annual festival. With no organizer, the event was canceled for this year. It would've been held this coming weekend.

The Stillwater High School boys' hockey team says Eckberg owes them $10,000 from last year. Now they're feeling the effects of not being able to make money this year. They plan to hold other fundraisers so parents aren't stretched too thin financially if their son wants to play.

Some businesses also say they're going to take a hit with less of a crowd.

But not everyone will miss Lumberjack Days. Some people believe it brings in too many people and doesn't represent Stillwater very well. The city has hired a polling company to survey residents to find out what they'd like for the future. The mayor suspects there will be another annual festival, just not this year.
