Man Sentenced to 30 Years for 2007 Rape of 13-Year-Old, 2011 Rape of Ex

The man convicted of raping a 13-year-old girl back in 2007 and an ex-girlfriend in 2011 has been sentenced to 30 years in prison.

Twenty-one-year-old Courtney Lamont Osgood of St. Paul was convicted of raping his ex-girlfriend on May 29, 2011. Evidence from this case linked him to the 2007 case.

Police responded to an assault call at 328 Concord Street in St. Paul around 4:21 a.m. on May 29. The victim said her ex-boyfriend, identified as Osgood, assaulted her. She said she told him she no longer wanted to see him and Osgood became upset, pulling her into the laundry room and squeezing her neck until she lost consciousness.

She said she believed Osgood raped her while she was unconscious.

According to the criminal complaint, a DNA test showed that Osgood was a match for the assault.

The test also showed that Osgood’s DNA profile matched that of an unsolved sexual assault case from 2007 where a 13-year-old girl was raped while walking to school in St. Paul.

On Jan. 8, 2007, the 13-year-old girl said a stranger grabbed her and dragged her behind 1300 Payne Avenue and choked her to unconsciousness and raped her. She immediately reported the assault after she walked back home.

Osgood pled guilty to two counts of first degree criminal sexual conduct. He received the maximum penalty available.
