Paralyzed Teen Using Music to Walk Again

Gabe Rodreick, 19, was paralyzed in a diving accident nearly four years ago. His family turned their garage into a rehabilitation gym.

Gabe's intense work was the inspiration for legislation at the Capitol that would have required reckless drivers to pay a fee to get back their licenses. The fee money would then be earmarked for spinal cord injury research. The bill never became law though.

So Gabe has found another way to draw attention to the need for research.

On Saturday, his band will make its debut at a fundraiser aimed at raising money for spinal cord injury research. The goal is to raise $10,000.

The benefit is Saturday, June 30, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Bethel Lutheran Church in South Minneapolis.
