The Minnesota Ballet is among the many places soaked by flood water in northeastern Minnesota.
About 90 percent of the organization's sets and backdrops were damaged by flooding. The ballet's storage area at US Bank in West Duluth is shin-deep in water.
Warped, moldy set pieces have been set outside to dry. Staff and volunteers are sorting through the ballet's damaged property, loading semitrailers with items that could be saved and those that should be discarded. A Nutcracker head and a carousel from "The Carnival of Animals" are among items ruined.
Artistic director Robert Gardner tells the Duluth News Tribune the flood caused more than $100,000 in damage.
