EmailChisago Co. Day Care Operator Cleared in Infant's Death
A Chisago County day care operator has been acquitted in the death of an infant in her care.
Salli D. Schultz, 43, of North Chisago Lakes Township, was found innocent of second-degree murder and manslaughter.
Schultz was charged in the January 2011 death of 8-month-old Brooke Kowarsch of Lindstrom.
Jurors took less than three hours to acquit Schultz on Thursday.
Brooke suffered a fatal head injury. Defense experts testified the child died of a stroke caused by blocked veins.
