Minn. Mom: Hit & Run Driver Should Come Forward

A 9-year-old boy remains in critical condition after being struck by a driver who left the scene Wednesday night.

Authorities say Amir Kahron Taylor of Minneapolis was riding his bike near 111th Avenue and Kumquat Street NW in Coon Rapids around 7 p.m. when he was hit by a pickup truck.

The driver of the vehicle did not stop.

The boy was taken to North Memorial Medical Center, where he was in critical condition Thursday evening. The Anoka County Sheriff's Office says it is not known if the boy will survive his injuries.

Taylor's mother, Ravesha Harris, says she has been at her son's bedside, whispering in his ear and telling him to stay strong. She is calling for the driver who hit the boy to come forward.

Authorities are asking for the public's help in locating the suspect vehicle, which is possibly a 1993-1998 Chevy Z-71, two-door, extended cab, short box that is glossy black in color.

The truck has driver's side damage and the side mirror was dangling after the crash.

Harris, the boy's mother, says the vehicle is familiar to the Coon Rapids neighborhood where Taylor was hit.

The driver is described as a white man in his late 20s or early 30s with short blonde hair and an unshaven face.
