Students Okay after School Bus Crash in St. Paul
A school bus carrying 28 children collided with a car Wednesday afternoon before jumping a curb and a retaining wall in the front yard of a vacant house in St. Paul.
No one suffered significant injuries. The St. Paul Police Department says the driver of the car sustained minor injuries, but wasn’t transported to the hospital. One parent took their child to a hospital to get checked out, just as a precaution.
The crash happened near Minnehaha Avenue and Earl Street on the city's east side around 3:30 p.m.
Toya Stewart Downey with St. Paul Public Schools says the bus was coming from L'etoile du Nord French Immersion School when the crash happened. With the help of neighbors, all the kids were helped out of the back of the bus. They were then ushered onto another bus and taken home.
The driver of the car says he was going through the intersection on a green light when the bus came through a red light and hit him.
