Police: Metro Crime Spree Ends With Burglar Caught in the Act

Police have nabbed a man they believe is responsible for several Edina burglaries. Stuart Pesheck of Richfield was arrested Monday in Eden Prairie for second degree burglary.

Edina detectives and officers from multiple other police departments had him under surveillance at the time.  According to the criminal complaint, they followed Pesheck to a home in Eden Prairie and watched him park his car in the driveway.  A short time later, they say the garage door opened, and Pesheck drove his car into the garage.  After several minutes, they say he drove out of the garage.

After he left, they found a back door of the house had been pried open and several wires to the house had been cut.  The homeowner walked through the home with officers and told them what was missing.  Police say items matching the descriptions she gave were later found in Pesheck's car.  They also say they found a pry bar, cloth gloves and wire cutters.

Police say Pesheck admitted to involvement in burglaries in several cities throughout the metro, including the west side of Edina. 5 Eyewitness News has been reporting on a series of break-in's in Deephaven, Carver, Eden Prairie, Greenwood and Minnetonka in which the burglar(s) stake out the home and disable to alarm system.

Investigators from several departments are continuing to looking over evidence as they build a case against Pesheck. In the meantime, Pesheck has been booked into the Hennepin County Adult Detention Center, with bail set at $250,000.

Charges were filed against Pesheck in Hennepin County District Court on Wednesday, Feb. 8.

While police are very pleased his crime spree is over, they're reminding everyone that Pesheck is not the only burglar out there, and there are other residential burglaries that are not attributable to him.
