Some 4,000 Military Vets Homeless in Minn.
ST. CLOUD, Minn. (AP) - An estimated 4,000 military veterans in Minnesota are expected to be homeless this year in Minnesota.
The Minnesota Assistance Council for Veterans says that's 1 percent of all veterans in the state.
Carolyn Anderson is one of two homeless coordinators at the St. Cloud VA Medical Center.
Anderson's job is to reach out to homeless vets, whether that's on the street or in shelters. She says many of the veterans she meets aren't aware of the government benefits available to them.
Anderson says most veterans she deals with served in the Vietnam War, but she says she's starting to see some from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
