Police investigating hate graffiti near State Fairgrounds

A hateful message targeting the gay and lesbian community found spray painted on a St. Paul street has left neighbors angry and upset.

Police say they’re taking this crime very seriously. The message was found in the 1500 block of Midway Parkway near the State Fairgrounds Wednesday morning.

"It makes me really mad…I’m not gay. I have no idea why they did it in front of my house," said Bob Brown who found the graffiti in front of his home. ""To see something in our neighborhood very upsetting."

A second message was also found around the corner. Both taggings were painted over by the city within hours of their discovery.

St. Paul Police say at this point, they don't know if the hurtful and hateful message was targeted to someone in particular.
