A trusted member of the law enforcement and school community is facing serious charges in Wright County.

Todd Gau, a county probation officer and Monticello High School girls basketball coach, is charged with molesting one of his players.

He is accused of touching and sending sexual text messages to one of the girls on his team.

According to charges, Gau invited a 17-year-old player to his house to watch game tapes. Documents say he kissed her and later sent her a text message about the kiss.

The complaint also says that when they were in a parking lot of an elementary school, he put his hand under the girl's sports bra. He then sent her another text message saying, "want more than my hands on your chest. LOL."

Superintendent of Monticello Schools, Jim Johnson, says the school is disappointed with the situation because this isn't the type of person they want working with the students.

Johnson says Gau was dismissed from his coaching duties after the girl's parents contacted the principal. 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS also learned Gau is on paid administrative leave from his job as a county probation officer.

5 EYEWITNESS NEWS knocked on Gau's door, but he didn't answer.

If convicted, he faces up to 10 years in prison.
