A large crowd gathered outside the Capitol Saturday afternoon to rally support and convince state lawmakers to stop raising their taxes.
As the Tax Committee met inside the Capitol, Gov. Tim Pawlenty addressed the crowd outside.
"Do not let these people behind us run out the door and spend your money. Let's hold them to accountability, lets make them live within their means and tell them do not raise taxes," Pawlenty said. "If they send a bill up to my desk with that on it, it's going to get vetoed."
DFLers are just as critical of the governor’s plan.
"Can be critical of us and our plan. What you can say about the Senate and House deficit plans is they solve the deficit. The governor’s plan puts the state deficit on a credit card and borrows for the next 20 years," said House Majority Leader Rep. Tony Sertich.
People who have attended the rally before say it gets bigger each year. This year they say the turnout may be due to the economy.
