Retired officer hit by stray bullet at Mpls. gun show

A retired police officer was hit by a stray bullet at a gun show at the Minneapolis Convention Center on Saturday.

Police say an off-duty Minneapolis Police officer was working at the show as a security guard when his gun holster got caught on a chair and caused the gun to fire.

The bullet hit the ground, shattered and hit a retired police officer who was also working as a security guard at the show.

The retired officer was treated at Hennepin County Medical Center and released.

The gun was sent to a range to check for malfunctions.

Minneapolis Police Officer Jesse Garcia says he is surprised that this hasn't happened before with all the gear officers carry on their bodies every day.
