The community is rallying around a Children's Hospital of Minneapolis employee who was recently robbed. Production Specialist Eriq Nelson is the host of an hour-long closed-circuit television show that was created to entertain children and families while their in the hospital.
While Nelson hosts the show, he does so in the guise of his alter-ego, a character named "The Dude."
Within the past few weeks, when Nelson returned home from a training class he discovered that the glass in the back door to his home had been broken, and someone had been inside.
Nelson says he was robbed, "Over probably $1,200, $1,300 worth of stuff including cash a family heirloom, my great grandparents pocket watch."
In addition to the items and cash that were stolen, Nelson says whoever robbed him rummaged through some very important personal items, "I had had a collection of stuff that kids had given me throughout the years, particularly those that have passed on, and it was kind of recklessly thrown about my bed room."
A fundraising effort has been set up to help Nelson recover from the theft.
