Women who are in favor of new birth policies at some area hospitals are speaking out. Hudson Hospital in Wisconsin has decided not to allow VBACs, or Vaginal Birth After Cesarean.

It means moms who've had a previous C-section won't be allowed to deliver naturally or even try. The hospital says it cannot provide the service because of what it calls "human resource constraints."

Courtney Dolge can't talk to you, but she can speak with her eyes and smile.

"She has attitude, but she's really happy," Karen Dolge, Courtney's mother, said.

Courtney deals with a lot every day: Cerebral Palsy, seizures and a feeding tube.

"Our life has changed daily because she has so many different needs: her breathing, she has nebs and vests," Dolge said.

It all happened after Courtney's mom said she was pressured by a local hospital to have a VBAC, or Vaginal Birth After Cesarean.

"I went VBAC, my uterus ruptured during labor and Courtney went without oxygen," Dolge said.

This isn't the first time 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS has talked to Karen about her experience.

In 1997, she wanted to make sure everyone knew the risks of having a VBAC.

"It has changed our life forever," Karen said in a past interview. "It will never be the same."

She knows times and medical technology have changed, but she still wants to make people aware of the risks that may be behind a hospital's decision.

"I believe the hospitals are doing a good thing," Karen said. "Yes, I kind of think they are covering so it doesn't happen, but I would rather be preventative than have it happen."

Karen added, "Research it, think about it, and really, you just want your baby here safely. You don't want to take that chance."

Hudson Hospital in Wisconsin won't offer VBACs beginning Aug. 31.
