Counselors will be on hand Monday for students at Waseca Junior/Senior High School after a plot to bomb the school was stopped last week.
Seventeen-year-old John La Due was arrested Thursday; police say he had an elaborate plan to kill his family and attack the school, which was outlined in a 180-page journal. The teen was arrested this week and charged with multiple counts of attempted first-degree murder, possessing explosive or incendiary devices and criminal damage to property.
Since the plan became known, a visitor management system has been installed at the school; new security cameras and a police panic button will be installed in the near future, school officials say.
Students were off school on Friday for a previously-scheduled staff training day.
