A 19-year-old western Minnesota man pleaded guilty Tuesday in connection to the death of a teenager who died in cold weather after he went missing from a party last month in Lac qui Parle County.

According to authorities, Erik Hastad pleaded guilty Tuesday to violating the Lac qui Parle County social host ordinance, a misdemeanor, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor in the death of 18-year-old Michael Anyasike.

Erik Hastad's father 59-year-old Gary Hastad is also charged with violating the social host ordinance

Sheriff's deputies responded to an underage drinking party early Sunday, March 9, at a farm near Madison. When deputies arrived, some of those at the party left the scene.

Later Sunday, authorities searched the area after Anyasike was reported missing. He was found and taken to Madison Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

A medical examiner ruled alcohol was a contributing factor to Anyasike's hypothermia death.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
