Friends, family and fellow soldiers said their final goodbyes to a fallen Minnesota marine Monday.

The funeral service for 20-year-old Lance Cpl. Caleb Erickson of Waseca was held at Grace Lutheran Church. He died Feb. 28 from injuries he received in an attack by a suicide bomber in Afghanistan.

Over the weekend, south-central Minnesota residents lined a procession route and held flags to pay their respects to Erickson.
The Free Press of Mankato reports his body arrived at Owatonna's airport Saturday afternoon and from there it was taken by motorcade to Waseca.
Erickson's burial took place Monday at Woodville Cemetery in Waseca.
Gov. Mark Dayton ordered all federal and state flags be flown at half-staff Monday.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
