There’s a new superintendent for the state's largest school district.

The Anoka-Hennepin School Board voted Thursday to move forward with contract negotiations with David Law. He’s been working as the assistant superintendent in White Bear Lake schools for four years.

“We are pleased to have selected a new superintendent who is talented, passionate about doing what’s best for students, and excited to return to Anoka-Hennepin School District,” said School Board Chair Tom Heidemann. “We believe David Law will do a great job for our schools and our community and we are eager to work with him.”

Heidemann said all finalists were well qualified for the position. Board members were particularly impressed with Law’s dynamic energy and presence as well as his management of many different functional areas. “His depth of knowledge will be a huge payoff for Anoka-Hennepin,” said Heidemann.

Other finalists were Michelle Langenfeld, Green Bay School District superintendent and former Anoka-Hennepin administrator and Jeff McGonigal, associate superintendent for high schools in Anoka-Hennepin.
